Artistic Statement:

In my paintings I try to depict the diversity of people, their emotional state and their aspirations.  I am interested in the forces both beyond and within our control that affect our lives. I want to show how either the forces outside of us or the strengths within us propel us forward. I am interested in how people both bend and fight these forces, how they strive to better the human condition and how they are defeated and crushed by it. Some of my paintings show loss and despair; others show there is hope for understanding and harmony and that it is possible for us to succeed in creating peace and a better world.
